Unleashing Transformative Healing: Integrating Canine Intuition, Lived Experience, and Clinical Expertise
Over the past decade, Jessica has cultivated a career focused on providing trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming care and individualizing treatment for children, teens, and adults.
Jessica specializes in treating behavioral problems, emotional dysregulation, and executive dysfunction related to ADHD, autism, and sensory processing disorders. In addition, she works with complex trauma (C-PTSD), concentrating on the impact of medical trauma due to chronic illnesses that often leads to secondary depression and anxiety.
In addition to her certification in animal-assisted therapy, Jessica is highly trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), somatically informed interventions, and IFS-informed parts work.
In her free time Jessica enjoys training her dogs, competing in dog sports, reading, and spending time with her husband, family, and friends.
Empathy from Experience
Jessica Allen, at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, receiving an overnight EEG diagnostic test.
Jessica is proudly neurospicy, diagnosed with inattentive ADHD at the age of 30, a common issue for women with executive dysfunction. In addition, Jessica has multiple chronic illnesses, having been diagnosed at 15 with fibromyalgia and PCOS/PMOS and receiving multiple diagnoses at 23 with dysautonomia, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), and migraines.
It took Jessica years of diagnostic testing, relentless self-advocacy, and multiple trips out of state to Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic for second opinions and treatment to regain quality of life. Something that is unfortunately a frequent reality for people with chronic illness as they endure years of unknowns and debilitating symptoms.
Paying it Forward
Jessica understands the emotional and physical damage medical gaslighting, invalidation, and misdiagnosis can have on someone’s mental and emotional well-being because she has lived through it herself.
Jessica is forever grateful to the mental health therapists she worked with throughout her teen and young adult years that helped her cope during some of the most challenging years of her life, and years later she is paying it forward.
